A transparent breakdown of every tool we use to run AXI — from design to development to project management to AI.
People ask about our tech stack constantly, so here is the full breakdown. We optimize for speed, quality, and low overhead — and we reevaluate our tools quarterly. If something is not pulling its weight, it gets replaced.
Design and Development
Design: Figma is the center of our design workflow. We use it for UI design, prototyping, and design system management. For quick mockups and exploration, we use Whimsical. For asset creation and photo editing, we keep an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription, though we use it less every quarter.
Development: Next.js with TypeScript is our default for web projects. Tailwind CSS for styling because it lets us move fast without fighting CSS specificity battles. Vercel for hosting and deployment — the DX is unmatched. For backend-heavy projects, we use Supabase as our database and auth layer.
AI, Automation, and Operations
AI and automation: Claude API is our primary LLM for both client projects and internal tools. We use Claude Code as our daily coding assistant. Zapier and Make handle most integration workflows, with custom Node.js scripts for anything that needs more control. For vector search and RAG applications, we use Pinecone.
Project management and communication: Linear for task tracking because it is fast and opinionated in the right ways. Slack for real-time communication with clients and internally. Loom for async video updates — a 2-minute Loom often replaces a 30-minute meeting. Notion for documentation and knowledge base.
Our Philosophy
The philosophy behind our choices: we pick tools that are best-in-class at one thing rather than platforms that try to do everything. We would rather have five focused tools that work great than one bloated platform that works okay at everything.
