Big Gym
Run a gym chain like a real operator.
Big Gym came to us with a clear pain point: gym chain operators are stuck running multi-million-dollar businesses on Excel sheets and software from 2008. They wanted a dashboard that respected the scale of the operation.
The brief
Big Gym is an analytics dashboard for multi-location gym operators. Membership trends, class attendance, location-by-location performance, and revenue metrics in one view. We designed and built the web app for gym owners running multi-location operations across cities or regions.
What we solved
Gym chain operators are time-starved. They run dozens of locations with thin margins and limited operations staff. Existing software is either single-location point-of-sale or enterprise-grade chain management that costs six figures and takes months to roll out. Big Gym needed to fit the gap: chain-grade analytics with single-location-grade simplicity and pricing.
How we got there
We designed the dashboard around the owner's weekly rhythm: how did each location perform last week, what trends are emerging, where do I focus this week. The home view answers those three questions on a single screen. Drilldowns into individual locations are one tap away. Reporting is ready to share with regional managers without manual export.
What we shipped
The web app gives owners a single live view of every location with comparative analytics, class attendance breakdowns, membership churn, and revenue trends. Reports generate automatically and can be scheduled for distribution to regional managers. The whole system is designed for owners to use during a 30-minute weekly review rather than a daily check-in.
What changed for the client
Big Gym is now running 24 gym chains across 150+ locations. Owners report saving 6 hours a week on reporting and operations review. Retention sits at 95 percent at 12 months, reflecting the deep integration into the owner's actual weekly workflow.
Frequently asked.
Questions that come up most often when companies reach out about projects like this.
Yes. Big Gym, Global Hair, and Edex Food all involve multi-location operational dashboards. The design challenge is making chain-level data feel actionable, not overwhelming. We anchor the design to the owner's weekly rhythm, not their daily one.
Match the dashboard to the operator's actual decision rhythm. For Big Gym, that's a weekly review. For Edex Food, it's a five-minute live cycle. The rhythm dictates what's on the home view and what's pushed to drilldowns.
We pick the backend based on the product's auth, real-time, and data needs. We've shipped fast-moving SaaS backends on Big Gym, Match Plan, AboutWork, Hatless, and Global Hair.
