Orbit was an internal concept built around a question we kept hearing from enterprise buyers: 'why doesn't our internal search work like Perplexity yet?' We sketched what one of those products could look like.
The brief
Orbit is a concept design for an enterprise AI search engine with a conversational interface, aimed at specific verticals like legal, healthcare, and financial services. The marketing site is the focus: it leads with an interactive search demo that shows the product in action before any sign-up friction. We designed the brand and site across six weeks of internal exploration.
What we solved
Enterprise AI search is a category fully crowded with vaporware. To stand out, the marketing site had to immediately demonstrate that the product actually works on the kind of complex queries an enterprise buyer would throw at it. Static screenshots and feature lists wouldn't cut it. The site had to be a product demo first and a marketing site second.
How we got there
We designed the hero around an interactive search input. Visitors type a sample enterprise query and watch the product reason through it in real time, with sources cited and confidence scoring shown. Pricing is upfront. Buyer-specific landing pages (legal, healthcare, financial) tailor the demo queries to the visitor's vertical.
What we shipped
The Orbit concept site uses Next.js and Claude to power the live demo, with a deliberately understated visual system that signals enterprise seriousness. Per-vertical landing pages reuse the same demo engine with different sample queries. The brand uses confident editorial typography paired with a restrained palette.
What changed for the client
Orbit was used as a portfolio piece and as a reference design in conversations with prospective enterprise AI clients. The concept generated meaningful inbound from founders building in the search and knowledge-management space.
Frequently asked.
Questions that come up most often when companies reach out about projects like this.
It's an AXI internal concept. We use concept work to demonstrate our craft in categories we want to attract more client work in. Orbit specifically targets enterprise AI as a category we're seeing rapid growth in.
Yes. Live demos are one of the highest-leverage decisions for an AI product site because they replace the 'request a demo' friction with immediate proof. We've shipped this pattern on Orbit (concept), Jacobs (concept), Hatless, and others.
We sandbox the demo to a constrained set of queries so the cost is bounded and the experience is reliable. The full product can sit behind a sign-up wall, but the demo on the hero is built to give visitors immediate proof of capability.
