Vyn Drive
An app as refined as the cars it rents.
Vyn Drive was an internal concept built around a frustration we'd seen across luxury rental apps: the cars are McLarens but the apps look like Hertz. We sketched what an app that matched the product could look like.
The brief
Vyn Drive is a concept design for a luxury car rental app. McLarens, Bentleys, Astons, with concierge-level booking and white-glove delivery. We designed the brand and the iOS/Android app across eight weeks of internal exploration.
What we solved
Luxury mobile commerce is paradoxically hard. The product itself signals exclusivity, but app stores reward broad usability. Vyn Drive had to feel like a Mandarin Oriental and not a Holiday Inn while still passing the App Store review for usability and accessibility. The booking flow had to feel concierge-level without becoming high-friction.
How we got there
We designed the home screen around the car as the hero. Each car is presented like an editorial feature with photography, specs, and availability. Booking is concierge-led: pick a car, pick dates, pick delivery, and a real human concierge confirms within minutes. The brand uses restrained editorial typography paired with a deep palette and motion that feels considered rather than flashy.
What we shipped
The Vyn Drive concept lands on three primary surfaces: fleet (browse the cars), my drives (current and past bookings), and concierge (chat with the booking team). Stripe sketches handle payments. The brand system extends across the app, marketing site, and email confirmations the team would send post-booking.
What changed for the client
Vyn Drive was published as an internal concept and informed a paid client engagement with a luxury hospitality brand. The concept's restrained approach to luxury mobile commerce became a reference for our subsequent premium retail and hospitality work.
Frequently asked.
Questions that come up most often when companies reach out about projects like this.
It's an AXI internal concept. We use concept work to push our craft in categories we want more client work in. Vyn Drive specifically targeted luxury mobile commerce as a category we wanted to explore.
Yes. Vyn Drive, Sneaks, Senova, and Quantro all explore premium-feeling product design across different categories. Luxury design hinges on restraint: less branding, more confidence in the product.
Pair the digital convenience of one-tap booking with a real human confirmation step. Users get speed without losing the white-glove signal. The concierge persona shows up across the app, confirmations, and customer communications.
